From our experience with the leather/plastic/silicon/polycarbonate sleeve or case, we have the below way that you can use to reduce the smelly odor and use the case with no worry.

1. Use the orange skin's juice on the leather, the orange's skin's juice have a very strong ability to cover or neutralize the not so good silicon or plastic's smelly.

2. Drop the plastic/silicon/polycarbonate case into a 90-100 degree hot water with salt, and in the water for 10 minutes. This method is not okay for the leather case. Unique way, but can make sense for sure!

We have a test of this, we have a very smelly case, and first go for method 2 one time, and then go for method 1 for 2 times, the case have a very very normal smell.
