Nokia 5800 XM gets a new firmware version 21.0.025

Its previous firmware was V20.0.012, for product code 0581337 ( may for HongKong area). Before the newest one, there is a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic (NAM) software V20.2.014, Type RM-428.
"V21 doesn't give us three touch buttons. In fact it's exactly the same as v20 with minor tweaks. Web browser is much quicker, we now have a 'breathing' light effect, UI is slightly quicker and we now have 2 lines which can each have it's own ringtone." Quoted from Nokia Support Disussions
If you have not already updated to V20, kindly try to get it asap, cuz the V20 is really a high gap for former version V11.0.08 or V 10.0.010. The nice points of new firmware is pretty obvious, according to our numerous 5800 MyPhone users' feedback.
We will announce at the very first time when we get the method of how to update to V 21.0.025. You can update by your side using the 5800’s OTA (Over-The-Air) feature, or if you prefer you can download Nokia’s Software Updater application to update your 5800 on your windows PC.
The 5800 has UDP (User Data Preservation) function, so you can backup all your data before the firmware update, none of your programs or data will be affected with the update.

How to change product code on 5800 (S60v5) [Os9.4]
Do the following but make sure you have the latest Nokia PC Suite installed as this has the 5800 usb drivers...
1. Download JAF 1.98.62.exe

2. Download JAF PKEY Emulator v5.0

3. Install JAF 1.98.62
4. Extract JAF PKEY Emulator v5.0 to desktop
5. connect ur Nokia 5800 and select PC Suite mode on your Nokia 5800.
6. Now run JAF PKEY v5.0 and click on the GO button. It will come up with error: box driver not installed --> so click ok and now JAF v1.98 will run.
7. select BB5 tab --> tick Prod. Manager --> then click the service button --> click the Read Values button.
8. Now u can enter ur product code and press the Write Values button and boooom it all done.
VISTA users MUST run JAF PKEY with Administrator privileges!

0575407: 5800 HK CV R V2

Hi,
I just wanted to update that there is no need to modify the product code or anything as the update is available thru the phone directly to users in India. I had checked in the phone management software update function and it found the update and has just finished downloading it. it is a small file compared to the last one thus downloaded pretty fast using wlan and is ready to install now. Hope this helps.....Ciao

It may help, but the problem its that not all country have released for their product codes update. So that post will help those users to update. Its valid to all. But also they can wait.

There are language differences, some small software also, because one its ASIAN one EUROPEAN, and there is one more i did not posted here, i will post it soon!

how do you install the update?

To install the update make sure you first check your Nokia Phone Update software and see if there is not update from them. If not download the best file depending on your area and simply connect your phone and execute it. If you have some issue post a reply here!

i have the 0575407 (i bought it form HK), but im in australia at the moment. problem is, i'm still stuck on v11.09 vecause for some odd reason we dont get updates here. i tried downloading the apac version and running it, wth my phone connected, but for some off reason nothing happens. can someone help me with this?
Sarah, i think you should try to use NSU Nokia Software Updater, it should work fine, and you will have maybe as a first version 20, not 21 but give it a try. Here its latest version from Nokia: http://nds1.nokia.com/files/support/global/phones/software/NokiaSoftwareUpdaterSetup_en.exe Give a try to this. With your code should work. Just to have your phone connected when you run this software and read info you have in there.

i am looking for the internet call client ( sip or voip calls) in the nokia 5800 xm, same as in E seris and N95.
i am using v20 version and will update it with v21.
any body can suggest will i find it in the v21?

How ever stupid it may look, there is no SIP client in the 5800XM. It looks absolutely idiotic to put a SIP stack in the phone and allow the user to create SIP profiles to register to a SIP server, but not put in the front-end to actually use the SIP stack.
At present you will find no software, 3rd party of from Nokia, allowing you to use the SIP profile created on your phone. You can, however, use software such as fring that will tunnel the registration to a SIP server through their own network. It's a bit of a kludge but it works after a fashion (quite a bit of lag and it takes a few seconds for the connection to be made after both parties have picked up the phone).

Downloaded .exe file. But it doesn't work. When I tried to run it using command prompt it says application too big to fit in memory. Really need this to work because update is not available here in Sri Lanka.

I have tried to update my nokia 5800xm by OTA ..but my operator not allowed to update. and tried update v40 via NSU its stopped at 20%. i can not update my phone.. what can i do now...

Hooo... i have updated my phone firmware v4.0 yesterday..no NSU no OTA..
only from JAF Software..
0. first download the firmware pack via http://www.blue-nokia.com/
then install to pc
1.
Download all firmware files using “Navifirm” and save to:
C:\Program Files\Nokia\Phoenix\Products\RM-356\
You should have 8 files in this folder
(These files contain all firmware for phone)
2.
Rename the downloaded file “RM356_40.0.005_023_xxx_U01.uda.fpsx” to “RM356_40.0.005_003_U302.uda.fpsx”
3.
Replace the missing “RM356_40.0.005_023_xxx_U01.uda.fpsx” file with the patched file.
(”RM356_40.0.005_023_xxx_U01.uda.fpsx” contains all 5800 Apps,
including “ROMPatcher “)
SETUP APPLICATIONS ON PC:

Run/Install “JAFSetup_1.98.62.exe”
You can Check existing USB Drivers (version: 7.1.23.0).
Do NOT install USB Drivers from JAF.
5.
Copy “OGM_JAF_PKEY_Emulator_v 5.exe” to Desktop.
RUN JAF:

Run “OGM_JAF_PKEY_Emulator_v 5.exe” from Desktop.
Scroll to Right - Press “Go”
Ignore error “BOX DRIVER NOT INSTALLED” and press “OK”
JAF will start

Select “BB5″ tab on top
Select “Prod. Manager” check box and press “Service” button
Read Phone Code. Code should be same as “Navifirm” (firmware)
Write Phone Code if changed and close.
8.
Select “BB5″ tab on top
Select ONLY the following check boxes (delselect all others):
X Manual Flash
X Dead USB
X Use INI
Select Phone Model as “RM-356″
All 4 lights should be green and message should show:

Switch off your Phone and click on FLASH button on JAF window
If you get errors like the following, ensure all files extracted to correct folder

When the Flash to the phone is complete, you can switch the Phone Mode to “Normal” in JAF to release the phone from JAF.
Your phone should restart normally when you change the mode in JAF.

Copy 2 files from \Patches to Phone:
E:\Patches\
On Phone,under “Applications”,run “ROMPatcher “.
Select “Install Server RP ” and “Open4All RP ” to go green.
Add both files to auto
DONE:

Now you can install any UNSigned SIS file on phone!
Note: You should use JAF and change the Phone Code back to whatever it was before the upgrade.
