Deal with the Phone Dropped into Water

Many users have the experience that dropped his favorite phone into water or spill juice onto your phone. Most people have trouble with this matter that make some unnecessary lose. But if you deal with it correctly, you can avoid most problems.

First, let's see some incorrect ways:

  • When the phone drops into water, turn it on as soon as having its surface dried by hair drier. Then the phone breaks.
  • Use other detergent to wash the phone, and then turn it on. And the phone breaks, too.

Here's some essential knowledge:

  • When your phone drops into water or split by juice, there’s water not only at the surface and but also inside the phone.
  • Water can conduct electricity because it contains impurities which will produce electrolytic reaction when electrifies.
  • Newest phones‘ LSIs are soldered by BGA and poured with glue. They can protect your phone from water to some extent.

So let's show you how to deal with the wet phone correctly:

1. Remove the battery, DO NOT SWITCH ON YOUR PHONE! If the liquid contains acids, alkalies or salts, clean your phone with the pure water.

2. Never turn on your phone before you make sure that the water has volatilized completely.

3. After cleaning the phone, you can dry it with your washing machine or putting it at the outlet of the air conditioner with its dry function. You can decompose your phone (e.g. click here to see how we decompose Nokia E71) and dry it by a hair drying or put it under the sun. But remember to close the LCD screen, because the LCD is easy ageing under the sun shine.

If you do according to this, you can surely fix your phone.

Just at the recent CeBIT 2009 in Hanover, SAMSUNG show their new phone B2700 in the water!!! Perhaps in the near future, we will never worry about the phone dropping into water any more.:)

Power off your phone, unpack your phone and blow it dry. Don't start your phone before your phone is dry. If you don't know how to deal with it, send it to the professional repair center.
