T-Mobile G1 with Google™ brought us Android, the brand new open source operating system from Google. We know most of the popular smartphones and platforms on them, but know nothing about Android, until we put hands on a real phone, T-Mobile G1. We also uploaded some big pictures of it, just take a slideshow at the end of this post. Or you can get them here.
We got G1 in a tidy white box. The manuals, handbooks were hidden in the box cover. G1 used a particular USB cable. The phone body size's a little bigger than my imagining.
Now you can see the idle screen. when slides open, the screen rotates to landscape mode automatically. It slides up in an arc rail, you can see the junction in picture, and the track rail at back side of the phone.
Android is widely expected to become a carrier of those Google services to land on mobile devices. Now Android brings built-in applications like Youtube, Gmail, Google Maps, Google Calendar Sync, etc. In these pictures you can see Youtube movies playing, and the software market - Android Market with applications and games that you can download them directly to phone.
Android Chrome browser is also an important built-in component. Chrome can render webpages like the way in desktop web browsers. When you are in page overview mode, you can point and move your finger like a magnifier. Release it, Chrome magnify this area and jump into actual size mode. You can also use zoom button on screen to zoom in and out.
You can see how Google Maps and Gmail look like on G1. just same like you visit them on other platforms, iPhone, BlackBerry, Symbian, ... Later I'll post some screenshots of G1 Instant Messaging, It's an integrated service with which you can messaging in Google Talk, Live Messenger, AIM, Yahoo! Messenger, etc.
The last part, music playing. It's a normal part in phone normal uses, but comes with a really nice interface, beautiful icons and buttons.
Now check this slideshow for more details, nice day!
